Tom Watt
Tom is well-known in the UK as an actor after starring in BBC TV's East Enders for the first three years of the popular soap opera's run. Since the late 1980s, he has appeared in several West End shows and television series. His film credits include And a Nightingale Sang, Patriot Games, Lost Dogs and Flirting with Flamenco.
Tom also writes, and broadcasts extensively, on football. His first three books were The End, a history of Arsenal’s famous North Bank terrace; A Passion For The Game, 90 first-person accounts of life behind the scenes in the professional game; and The Greatest Stage, the official history of Wembley Stadium.
More recently, he ghost-wrote David Beckham's autobiography My Side and has produced a series of educational books for publishers, Rising Stars, based
on football.
Tom has written regularly for The Observer, The Times, Scotland On Sunday, Ireland On Sunday, The Sportsman and, latterly, the London Standard.
As a broadcaster, Tom presented and helped create Row Z for BBC Choice and co-produced the innovative children's sports series, Rookies, for Channel 4. He has hosted 606 for BBC Radio 5 Live, for whom he also wrote and presented Watt in the World, a Sony-nominated series on world football. Between 1998 and 2001, he presented seven phone-in shows a week for TalkSport, creating the successful It's Round & It's White and Season Ticket formats. Since 2001, Tom has been the lead presenter for BBC London 94.9's football coverage, has become a regular on Fighting Talk on Radio 5Live, and fronts a weekly Fans Forum for Arsenal TV.
Tom also has extensive experience of hosting live events, ranging from club dinners, Q and As with managers and players, through to leading the on-pitch Final Salute celebrations at Highbury for Arsenal in 2006.
