Paul Hayward
Paul Hayward is currently Chief Sports Writer at the Observer - having previously held the same post at the Daily Mail and Daily Telegraph - and Senior Sports Writer at the Guardian. He started his journalistic career at The Independent and Racing Post.
Sports Writer of the Year in the British Press Awards in 2002 and 2003, he was also the Sports Writers' Association Sports Journalist of the Year in 1996 and is a three-time winner of the Sky Sports trophy for best football writer. He was shortlisted twice at the 2009 SJA awards, following his recognition as runner-up as Sports Journalist of the Year 12 months earlier.
Paul co-wrote the autobiographies of Sir Bobby Robson and Michael Owen; has penned scripts for BBC football documentaries; and is a regular contributor to mainstream TV and radio.
