Patrick Barclay
Appointed Chief Football Commentator at The Times in 2009, Patrick Barclay is much in demand on TV and radio - especially when the great issues of the game are being debated. He is seen regularly on a multitude of channels including all terrestrial outlets, Sky, Bravo and ESPN.
Patrick also provided voice-over for a highly acclaimed, six-part, TWI series for Sky on the 2006 World Cup which was distributed worldwide.
A former Sports Journalist of the Year with the rare honour - for a member of his profession - of having an entry in Who's Who, Patrick joined the Sunday Telegraph in 1996 from the Observer. Before that he was at the Independent, Today and Guardian. He will be covering his eighth World Cup in South Africa.
Patrick takes an interest in all sports, but has always specialised professionally in football, to which he applies a distinctive blend of authority and originality.
He was educated in Scotland and supports Dundee FC but lives in London.
His outstanding book 'Anatomy of a Winner' - which examines the career and success of Jose Mourinho - has been widely quoted by fellow journalists and many others, throughout the game. He is currently writing a major biography of Sir Alex Ferguson, to be published in the autumn of 2010.
Patrick has contributed substantial pieces to several other major publications including both the Manchester United and Highbury Opuses for Kraken, and was the lead writer on the authorised history of Wembley Stadium.
He has recently signed a contract to feature in a major TV series in anticipation of the 2010 World Cup.
